Icefields Parkway to Jasper

We set off along this spectacular road passing Crowfoot Glacier on the way.

We stopped off at Bow Lake, again stunning colours against the mountain backdrop.

We then headed up to the parking at the Columbia Icefield (you can park up here overnight). We took the walk along the path (passing markers showing dates and the previous extent of the glacier) to the Athabaska Glacier viewing area and you do get a fabulous view.

This being the health and safety conscious U.S.A. they put up dier warnings about going beyond the viewing area.

We ignored them and had a fabulous hike up to and then on to this beautiful glacier.

We met a few more wild friends on the road to our next camp which was a superb one overlooking a beautiful river.
